“ I was passing through this area around dinner time and was looking for a Thai restaurant that would satisfy that winter craving for hot green curry. We arrived about 30 minutes from closing, but the waiters, even though they were incredibly busy, we're glad to take our to go order. The green curry was really nice. The vegetables, especially the green beans, were nice and crisp and the coconut base was rich and fragrant. This meal definitely satisfied my craving and if we had more time, I would've wanted to sit in and enjoy the hip and modern interior. The restaurant almost reminds me of a hip wine bar with its overhead lighting, bench, seating, and wine menu with a decent variety! There is ample parking and a few other tasty looking restaurants in the near vicinity. I would definitely recommend this place as a go to stop if you are ever crossing the Hayward Bridge into the bay area! ”
“ I ordered the fried tofu, the fried calamari and the papaya salad. The papaya salad is very close to what I tried in Thailand. I love the design of the place and there is plenty of space to seat indoor outdoor and on the bar. ”
“ Not compostable containers sent for delivery. :( Super delicious but I'll avoid delivery for now and try eating in. ”
“ I stopped by on a weekday evening and was seated immediately--no wait at all, which was a great start! The tom kha soup came out first, and let me tell you, it was hands down the best I've ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--it set the bar high for the rest of the meal. Luckily, every other dish we tried was just as delicious, packed with bold flavors and great attention to detail. Even though it's a bit of a drive for me, I'd happily make the trip again to explore more of their menu. Highly recommend! ”
“ Breezy casual nice Cafe for a light meal. What I tried from their kitchen, I quite liked. Not super literate in Thai cuisine but my gut guesses this particular restaurant cooks in a hybrid style: some Chinese element in with the Thai ingredients and recipes. My gut can be completely wrong on this theory, though. The stir-fried Noodles and the Fried Rice dishes come with a choice of Chicken or Pork. If you want Beef or Prawns or "Moo Grob (crispy pork belly)" there will be a surcharge on the regular noodle menu price. Tofu and Vegetarian options are available. Pad Kee Mao with pork was quite nice. The dish was Stir-fried flat rice noodles with house special sauce, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and basil. Pineapple Fried Rice was really good, my friends had that. This popular dish combines sweet pineapple chunks and stir-fried jasmine rice with garlic, onions, curry powder, cashew nuts, raisins, chicken and shrimp, served with sliced cucumber and cilantro. Chef's Specials include Grilled Rib Eye Steak, which includes steamed mixed veggies, and sticky rice, serve with Thai country style spicy sauce. More examples of their special recipes... "Fish on Fire": Filet of salmon grilled with Choo Chee sauce, kafir lime leaves, grilled asparagus served flambé with rum and steamed veggies. How about "Crispy Chicken Pineapple": Golden crispy boneless chicken breast sauteed with fresh pineapple, bell peppers, onions, garlic, cashew nuts and Thai spicy sweet tamarind garlic sauce. Also. "Rib Eye Steak Green Curry": Grilled rib eye steak, grilled bell peppers, Chinese eggplants, asparagus, and basil with green curry sauce. Service is gracious, warm and friendly. Ambiance is stylish modern Cafe, dark and red tones and nice decor. My friends and family and I enjoyed our visits at Chuan Chim. If you are seeking Thai food and happen to come through Foster City, stop in for a nice meal. ”
“ Came to Chuan Chim and enjoyed the experience! We wanted the Taste of Thai experience but they were sold out of the BBQ Chicken so we audibled to the papaya salad, the housemade fish cakes, and the crispy duck lettuce wraps. The papaya salad was huge! It was sufficiently spicy, sour, and crisp but we weren't a huge fan of the lettuce that was added in to fluff up the salad. It's not authentic and iceberg in general doesn't add much to a dish. When it came to the fish cake, they were plump, juicy, and had a really pleasant bounciness. I really liked how green onions and basil were mixed into the cakes too! The dipping sauce was nutty, sweet, and sour which I also found very enjoyable! Unfortunately we both weren't huge fans of the crispy duck wraps. It was really salty! I also thought that it could use some other elements to change up the textures a bit. I would not recommend this dish. Overall despite one miss, we liked our meal enough that we've already decided this restaurant can be added to our repeatable list. ”
“ Small mom and pop thai restaurant with good curries, amazing noodle and an Outdoor space that is pup friendly. Everything was delicious, service was ok (prob cuz we were outside on a busy night) and ambiance was ok. Parking was easy since it was a residential and commercial compound. Will return. Approx $40/person. ”
“ Came here on a Monday night and it was packed. This place gave me hope. :) In general, I enjoyed most of their dishes. To my surprise, their pad thai and the chicken satay weren't so good. They used chicken breast for the satay and they were dry. The pad thai was bland and the noodle was soggy. Otherwise, the other entrees were flavorful. The catfish was nicely fried, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I could taste the basil and the "wok air". The best part was their desserts. They had the steamed taro wrapped in sticky rice which was delicious. ”
“ Quick take: nice presentation This is a pretty nice looking restaurant. Dining on a Wedding night and the place was busy. Loved the presentation of the food. Flavor is good too. Portions are a little small compared to other Thai restaurants. It's nice place to celebrate a birthday. ”
